Brrokk-dûm
Greetings, brave friends. I, Brrokk Barrowbane, welcome you.
Visit with me if you will, the hall Brrokk-dûm which I have
established beneath the Lonely Mountain in Erebor. The hall is built
into a great geode of surpassing magnificence and is a resort for
drinking, feasting, crafting and quiet thought for dwarves.
Pass with me over the great bridge across the chasm, and walk the
avenue of dwarf-heroes watched over by two mighty dwarf-lords of old.

Oh, these aren't dwarves. There must be a story behind them.

The dwarf stable-master here can send you on journeys to many places in
Middle Earth. Behind him is my first faithful pony Joll, who is now in
his care.

Of course, no dwarvish dwelling would be complete without a forge.

Well, enough dallying in the grounds, let us enter the mansion.
Ah, it looks like a great host of dwarves have been here feasting. It's
probably a good thing we've missed them if they were at their usual
axe-throwing.

I think they'll be back though; I can smell more food roasting in the kitchen to our left.

Actually, I must admit that the kitchen here is in danger of being
demoted to only four-star dwarvish hygiene rating because of the habit
of storing foodstuffs on the floor. It's a good solid stone floor
though.

The ale supply is handy next to the kitchen. It seems to have a "guardian".

Across the great hall from the kitchen is the crafting chamber. This
has excellent facilities for all metal and woodworking crafts, as well
as a study area for scholars. Naturally one has to go outside for the
forge.

There is a "banker" too, who can issue useful items from the vaults to
support crafters. Dwarf bankers seem to be very rare (it's not a
profession a keen axe-wielder would favour), so when this lady turned
up at our door one midnight, raving about a magic mirror, dodgy apples
and showing a strong wish to live among dwarves, we gave her the job.
She also said she'd "impressed a fire lizard" in her flight, although
why it found her impressive we don't see, However, it seems to be
devoted to her and helps her guard the gold. The book can reward closer
inspection.

Sometimes a friend of hers is here too, offering essential supplies to
crafters. She's a sleepy individual though. You often have to blow
loudly on the horn to get her to turn up.

Along from the crafting hall is the chamber of trophies. Here many
mementoes of my adventures in Middle Earth are gathered under a great
crystal ceiling.

You should have seen us getting that thing in here!

Ah, here's the wight Sambrog from the Great Barrow. It was from there
that I took my name "Barrowbane", and I bore the axe "Sambrog's Bane"
for many years after.

At the far end from the great hall is the chamber of lore and counsel.
This is a collection of the knowledge of the dwarves past and present.
There are some interesting books here too.

Well, we've explored the ground floor. Let's have a look upstairs now.

The guard on the landing will allow our passage since you're with me...

... and now we enter the Hall of the Deathless Throne.

The Deathless Throne itself is reserved for Durin the Deathless himself
on his return. I warn you not to get too close. It is said that great
misfortune or madness will afflict anyone else who sits in it.

Finally, at the side of this hall is the treasure chamber, holding many riches of the dwarves. It is, of course, well guarded.

Since you're with me, the guards will allow us passage... I hope.

What can I say. Gold is good! There's a small art collection too.

What's this at the back? Ah, well I said the treasure was guarded! Did
you think I just meant the dwarf guards? This tentacle in the barrel
looks dead, but if any unauthorised person tries to leave the room with
any gold, it will spring to furious life and drown them in the water! I
advise you to put down that coin.

That concludes the tour of the hall of Brrokk-dûm. I hope you've enjoyed it.
